5 Reasons You Should Become a WordCamp Sponsor

Our Sponsors page tells you who our sponsors are. Become a Sponsor gets you started on the what and how.

But we haven’t said anything yet about why you might want to sponsor WordCamp Philly. Here are a few reasons to join us in October.

5. Get to Know a Different Side of Philly

Over the past two years, WordCamp US has introduced everyone to Philadelphia’s bustling Center City with its skyscrapers and historic sites, not to mention the world’s best cheesesteaks.

WordCamp Philly offers a chance to appreciate a different scene: the University City and West Philly areas. You’ll find neighborhoods around our venue, the University of the Sciences, dotted with gorgeous architecture, autumn colors and a wealth of eateries, including many small restaurants specializing in Asian and African cuisine. And yes, you can find cheesesteaks in West Philly, too.

4. Start Celebrating Halloween Early

You don’t have to be a party animal to love Halloween. For many of us, it brings back fond childhood memories.

WordCamp Philly is planning fun activities around the holiday theme. Sponsors are invited to attend the opening party for speakers as well as the after-party. And it’s an excuse, if you want one, to bust out your Spider-Man or General Leia Organa cosplay duds and celebrate your geeky inner child for a good cause.

3. Meet the Wonderful Folks in Philly’s WordPress Community

Philadelphia is unusual in having two active WordPress Meetups — and there are many others from five states that are only a short trip away by car or train. We’re a large group, diverse in every way.

WordPress users here include:

  • Freelancers
  • Web development companies
  • Advertising and marketing firms
  • News outlets and bloggers
  • Small-business owners
  • Universities and schools
  • Government and non-profits

This is the perfect opportunity to introduce your services and products to as many as 400 or so people interested in businesses that can meet their needs.

2. Gather Customer Feedback and Suggestions

In addition to showing potential new clients what you have to offer, WordCamp is an excellent opportunity for you to meet face-to-face with people already using your products and services.

Learn what they like and what challenges them the most. Ask which new features they’d be interested in. Answer questions they don’t think to contact you about online or by phone. Create new connections with your clients while building their confidence in you.

1. Support the Open Source Community

WordPress and other open-source software is made possible because thousands of volunteers throughout the world lend their time and talents to planning, designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, documenting and sharing their know-how.

WordCamp Philly offers informative speaker sessions plus networking opportunities, but there’s much more to it than that. Our Contributor Day is a time for us to work together on making WordPress better and more accessible to everyone.

Your sponsorship furthers these efforts, making it possible for us to offer a gathering place for the community to learn, share and collaborate.
